Canadian Telecom to Provide Both Server and Desktop Online Backup and Recovery Services
BOSTON and REGINA, Saskatchewan, March 7, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Iron
Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), the global leader in information protection
and storage services, and SaskTel, a leading Saskatchewan communications
company, today announced that SaskTel will now offer Iron Mountain's LiveVault
online backup and recovery service as part of its SaskTel Server Data Backup
solution. The service enables SaskTel to offer complete online data backup
and recovery services for both servers and desktops in addition to its
wireline, wireless, internet, entertainment and e-business solutions.
SaskTel currently offers Iron Mountain's Connected DataProtector/PC
service for desktop protection. With the addition of the LiveVault service,
SaskTel now has a complete solution for all of its customers' backup needs.
"We are excited to be working closely with an industry leader such as Iron
Mountain," said SaskTel President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Watson.
"As a result of local demand, our services have expanded to include companies
in the financial services, legal and healthcare industries that have
significant amounts of data to store. Iron Mountain's LiveVault service is an
excellent complement to our existing services and will help our customers meet
their data backup needs."
Iron Mountain's comprehensive data protection and e-records management
solutions help corporations and small and mid-sized companies mitigate risk
related to electronic records and information, automatically and reliably back
up and recover server and PC data, meet regulatory compliance requirements,
respond to litigation in real time and contain storage costs. Its partners
are critical to maintaining its high growth rate and market leadership.
Iron Mountain's LiveVault service offers the first and only solution that
seamlessly couples network- and disk-based backup and recovery to create a
complete and fully automated data protection solution. LiveVault
automatically and continuously backs up business server data via a secure
Internet connection, storing the data offsite in a secure, remote location,
where it is available for immediate recovery in the event of a system failure,
virus, human error or other disaster.
"SaskTel is taking a leadership position in the Canadian telecom space by
offering both server and desktop backup and recovery services and Iron
Mountain is proud to be a part of it," said John Clancy, executive vice
president of Iron Mountain Digital, the company's technology business unit
that specializes in data backup/recovery and archiving software as a service
(SaaS). "Our partnership brings LiveVault's automated, continuous data
protection to thousands of Canadian businesses, enabling SaskTel customers to
confidently focus all their attention on their business, not their backup."
