Suite combines DataDefense(TM) and Connected(R) Backup/PC Offerings with special discount pricing

BOSTON, June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), the global leader in information protection and storage services, today introduced the PC Data Protection Suite combining the data backup benefits of Iron Mountain's Connected(R) Backup/PC solution with the data security functionality of its DataDefense(TM) solution. The integrated suite provides enterprise-control over the PC data protection and recovery process, with complete endpoint security. The Company is currently offering competitive discount pricing for both new and existing customers.

As more and more sensitive company information resides on PCs, laptops, and in remote offices that fall outside the protection of the enterprise's central data center, it is becoming more important for businesses to manage the risks of lost or corrupt data. In addition, new federal, state, and international regulations are requiring companies to take stringent measures to secure private and personal data.

"With the stakes so high, the protection of business-critical and confidential data is now a top priority for companies," said John Clancy, executive vice president, Iron Mountain Digital, the Company's technology business unit. "Iron Mountain's PC Data Protection Suite gives companies the peace of mind that they will always have control over distributed PC data, even if they lose control over the device."

The suite's first line of protection is Iron Mountain's DataDefense solution, which automatically detects and monitors threats, and can encrypt and ultimately eliminate data to prevent its compromise or misuse. The second measure is Iron Mountain's Connected Backup/PC solution, the undisputed number-one solution for automatic backup and rapid recovery of data stored on PCs.

Highlights of the PC Data Protection Suite include:

  • Easy Enterprise-Level Control -- Both DataDefense and Connected Backup/PC solutions are administered in-house for complete enterprise- level control of data stored on PCs, both inside and beyond company firewalls. All end-user compliance obligations are removed, returning the responsibility and safeguarding of data to enterprise and IT leaders.
  • Automated, Transparent Solution -- Data protection and recovery no longer need to be labor intensive for your valuable IT resources or end- users. The suite provides fully automated data protection, without disrupting daily activities. The solution requires no special end user compliance, training, or change in usual work processes.
  • Endpoint Security -- With the PC Data Protection Suite, IT administrators can choose to encrypt any or all data, in any location(s) on all local drives, and also destroy data when necessary. With the DataDefense solution, the enterprise sets the criteria for threat detection, monitoring, and actions to neutralize PC security threats. The Connected Backup/PC solution also provides unbeatable security by using the highest levels of digital backup security available; 128-bit, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is used during transmission to the data center, for all data stored, and when users recover data.
  • Flexible Management -- With the DataDefense solution, the enterprise can easily adjust threat monitoring and reaction rules to meet their unique PC data protection needs. For example, data destruction may be triggered based on the number of times an incorrect password is entered, or if a device is out of contact for a prescribed amount of time. With Connected Backup/PC, the enterprise can set the timing for daily backups, determine which types of files are backed up, and set user access and functionality.

The PC Data Protection Suite includes the latest version of DataDefense. New features of DataDefense 2.0 include advanced certificate management and support for multiple users of a single PC.

The PC Data Protection Suite is offered as a subscription service or as licensed software. The subscription service provides secure, off-site data storage, instant scalability, and unmatched ease of use, and requires no capital investment, while the licensed software allows organizations to run the solution inside their own IT environments.

Special discount pricing for the PC Data Protection Suite is available for new and existing customers. For more information, please contact (800) 899- IRON.
