Iron Mountain Offers on-Demand Webcast on Upcoming New Requirements for Protecting and Transporting Personal Data

BOSTON, Dec 21, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), an information management services company, has made available an on-demand Webcast for businesses dealing with new personal identification data encryption requirements that will take effect in 2010 in Nevada and Massachusetts. Hosted by leading privacy and data protection expert Charles H. Kennedy of Morrison & Foerster, LLP, the Webcast overviews the laws, what they mean, and how organizations can address them.

The new standards put forth by Nevada (Senate Bill 227) and Massachusetts (201 CMR 17.00), with possible adoption in other states in 2010 govern the collection and transport of personal data, as well as how that data is stored. Iron Mountain, whose Offsite Tape Vaulting services and Connected(R) Backup for PC and Mac are Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliant, already complies with these standards, offering customers of these solutions peace of mind.

Mr. Kennedy, who has represented major corporations before the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on data security and customer privacy breaches, will recommend practices for the collection, storage and transport processes. Attendees of the Webcast will also be able to download a free e-book on tape encryption.

WHAT: Titled Complying with New Personal ID Encryption Mandates: Nevada, Massachusetts and Beyond, this Webcast will highlight:

  • Upcoming standards covering personal data collection, storage and transport;
