Leading West-Coast Systems Integrator Reduces the Cost of Archiving
and Accessing Email for Microsoft Exchange and NetApp Storage Users
BOSTON, Jun 15, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Iron
Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), the information management
company, has expanded its partnership with InterVision to allow the
Santa Clara, Calif. IT firm to offer users of NetApp and Microsoft
Exchange Iron Mountain's newly-acquired NearPoint(TM)
solution for archiving, accessing and protecting email. InterVision's
customers can now enjoy high performance, manageability and lower
operating costs by combining leading technology from NetApp and Iron
Mountain in a single integrated solution for managing Microsoft Exchange.
The Iron Mountain NearPoint archive leverages NetApp's Snapshot(TM)
technology as the source for archived data and the compliant archival of
data capture for all Microsoft Exchange database transactions and
events. This includes all email moves, message deletes, calendar items
and contacts. In addition, the integration simplifies application data
management by leveraging NetApp's SnapManager for Microsoft Exchange,
which automates the complex, manual, and time-consuming processes
associated with the backup, recovery, and verification of Exchange
Server databases while eliminating the need to implement Microsoft
Exchange Journaling.
"InterVision is a leading solutions provider with deep domain expertise
in the areas of storage, virtualization and messaging, and we look
forward to our expanded partnership with them," said T.M. Ravi, chief
marketing officer, Iron Mountain Digital. "The combination of their
services and our enterprise-class archiving solutions gives companies
using Microsoft Exchange and NetApp the complete solution they need to
ensure they can retain, search, and recover email, while reducing the
cost and risks of storage and management."
"Iron Mountain NearPoint is a natural addition to our other email
archiving solutions because of its integration with NetApp storage
systems," said Sean McGrath, director of systems and storage,
InterVision. "More than 90 percent of our customers deploy
virtualization technology to lower their storage costs. The Iron
Mountain NearPoint solution is an ideal fit for these customers because
it allows them to move primary Exchange data off of expensive tier-one
storage systems into Iron Mountain's integrated archive. This unified
solution is a fit for InterVision as we help our customers address their
business requirements in more efficient and cost-effective ways."
The Iron Mountain NearPoint solution also integrates with several other
NetApp technologies, including NetApp SnapManager for SQL Server,
SnapDrive(R), SnapMirror(R) and FlexVol(R).
The integration leverages NetApp's cascading Snapshot technology for
archived data protection, resulting in a combined solution that shrinks
the storage footprint and makes it easier to deploy, faster to recover
and more cost effective to manage.
"By combining NetApp storage solutions and the Iron Mountain NearPoint
solution for email archiving, InterVision is helping to rein in
management costs often associated with storing, retaining, retrieving
and recovering Exchange data," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of
Solutions and Alliances for NetApp. "InterVision customers will continue
to see dramatic cost savings through the combination of NetApp and
NearPoint."
Prior to Iron Mountain's acquisition of Mimosa Systems in February,
Mimosa and NetApp announced an expanded
integration partnership in October 2009, which enabled the
development of a comprehensive solution for integrated content
archiving, storage management and data protection for Microsoft Exchange
and SharePoint environments. The Iron Mountain NearPoint solution was
recently installed as the only email archiving solution at NetApp's
Sunnyvale, Calif. Executive Briefing Center.
