Centralized management of physical and electronic records will give
companies greater visibility into records inventory and greater control
to ensure compliance and litigation readiness
BOSTON & HOUSTON, Jul 18, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Iron
Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), the information management
company, and GimmalSoft,
a provider of Information Lifecycle Solutions for SharePoint(R),
have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a solution for
managing both physical documents and electronic files from within
SharePoint 2010. The solution integrates SharePoint 2010 and Iron
Mountain's Accutrac
software so that companies have a centralized means to access both paper
and electronic documents, manage on- and off-site files, consistently
classify data, apply legal holds and set retention periods. This
capability will let companies classify and manage physical and
electronic files more consistently, a key requirement for accessing
information fast, meeting compliance regulations and being prepared for
litigation.
"We are excited to partner with the Iron Mountain and GimmalSoft teams
to extend the capabilities of SharePoint to meet our need to manage
physical records," stated Nishan DeSilva, a director in the Microsoft
Legal and Corporate Affairs Organization. "This unified records
management solution will allow people to access and manage all content,
both on premises and offsite at Iron Mountain from a common SharePoint
interface."
"We are pleased to hear our good partners Iron Mountain and GimmalSoft
have chosen to embrace and extend the SharePoint 2010 platform with
additional physical records management capabilities," stated Ryan
Duguid, senior product manager, Microsoft SharePoint(R). "Our partner
ecosystem provides important and powerful extensions to SharePoint to
solve real business problems for our common clients."
"Many companies have adopted the use of SharePoint across their
organizations and are experiencing difficulty in managing this
information in a manner similar to their physical records," said Richard
Wilder, senior vice president, Iron Mountain. "Our partnership with
GimmalSoft brings together our decades of records management expertise
with GimmalSoft's knowledge of SharePoint to create a comprehensive
solution that helps our customers manage both physical and electronic
records."
"We will leverage our experience solving client problems and developing
SharePoint solutions in the development of our records management
solution. We are excited to team with an industry leader like Iron
Mountain," stated David Quackenbush, president, of GimmalSoft's parent,
Gimmal Group.
"We have significantly extended the native capabilities of SharePoint to
provide users one solution for managing their records. It's exciting,"
stated Brad Teed, GimmalSoft's chief technology officer.
This October, Iron Mountain and GimmalSoft will demonstrate the new
solution at the SharePoint Conference in Anaheim, Calif. and at the ARMA
International Conference in Washington, DC.
