Company continues to expand service offerings to support emerging
challenges and competing initiatives for federal information management
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Iron
Mountain Incorporated® (NYSE:IRM), the storage and information
management company, announced today that Michael J. Lewis has joined the
company as vice president and general manager for Iron Mountain
Government Services (IMGS). In this role, Lewis will lead Iron
Mountain’s portfolio of business for the Federal Government sector,
currently providing products and services designed to meet the specific
information management needs of agencies.
Lewis brings more than 30 years’ general management and 14 years
government experience in the federal sector, managing key agency
relationships and overseeing product and service development. He joined
Iron Mountain from Computer Sciences Corporation (now CSRA), a global
leader of next generation information technology services and solutions,
where he served as general manager for the Defense Health Agency
business. Prior to that, Lewis spent 19 years with Siemens in a variety
of strategic leadership roles, including senior vice president of sales
and general manager for the public sector for Siemens Enterprise
Communications Group. He has also held senior level roles with IBM and
GE.
In addition to Michael Lewis’ appointment, Iron Mountain has announced
several new offerings designed to help federal agencies cope with
intersecting initiatives and economic pressures associated with managing
information. Over the last several months the company has expanded its
network of National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) compliant
storage facilities, adding nearly one million cubic feet of federal
records storage capacity in Sterling, VA, Bristol, CT and Hanover Park,
IL. Additionally, Iron Mountain has begun rolling out new products and
services designed to help federal agencies better cope with expanding
regulations, mandates and initiatives related to the security, access,
governance and eventual disposition/destruction of physical and
electronic records, as well as data center services that comply with
stricter environmental and technology standards.
“We’re thrilled to add Michael’s extensive experience and expertise in
serving the public sector to lead our government services business,”
said Ernest Cloutier, executive vice president, U.S. Federal, Security
and Legal for Iron Mountain. “His background in leadership, relationship
management and technology development in the public sector is a great
fit for Iron Mountain to address the needs of federal agencies as we
look to deliver solutions that balance the requirements for protecting
information with unlocking the benefits it can provide. Michael provides
tremendous value to the company and our federal customers, and we’re
thrilled to have him leading our government solutions team.”
Lewis holds a bachelor of business administration degree in Business
Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has
completed several executive management programs at Babson College, Duke
University’s Fuqua School of Business, and the GE Management development
program. He is an active speaker, mentor, and volunteer with the
Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and company veteran
affinity groups assisting officers with their transition to the private
sector.
“This is an exciting time to join Iron Mountain,” said Michael Lewis.
“The company is poised to help federal agencies optimize their
information management by protecting information assets, improving
access and converting documents into valuable electronic information
that help agencies meet their mission’s objectives. Right now, federal
agencies need help in addressing the busy intersection of initiatives
and looming deadlines surrounding information management, from the
Managing Government Records Directive to the FDCCI Mandate and the
‘Reduce the Footprint’ policy. Each of these brings their own unique set
of challenges, and Iron Mountain’s unique combination of information
management expertise and trusted reputation for security can help solve
these challenges. I look forward to playing a significant role in
helping our federal customers realize their goals for improved
information management across their enterprises.”
